Su línea de investigación se focaliza en los procesos sociocognitivos asociados al aprendizaje, especialmente los procesos motivacionales. Su investigación se ha llevado a cabo a partir de múltiples fondos concursables externos. Destaca entre ellos 4 proyectos Fondecyt Regular como Investigador Responsable, otros cuatro como coinvestigador, un Fondo del Libro (CNCA) y la colaboración en varios otros proyectos. Por otra parte, es investigador patrocinante de un Fondecyt de postdoctorado en campo de la integridad académica y formación ética de futuros investigadores.
Su interés en el campo de la motivación incluye representaciones de la motivación, trayectorias motivacionales de futuros profesores durante su formación, variables motivacionales en búsqueda de ayuda académica en la universidad, la motivación por la lectura en niños y adultos; y procesos motivacionales específicos en contextos educativos. Actualmente, su proyecto principal busca identificar el efecto de prácticas docentes universitarias en la orientación motivacional por el aprendizaje en estudiantes de educación superior.

PhD in Educational Sciences (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile), Diplomé en Etudes Approfodies en Sciences de l’éducation (Université Catholique de Louvain). Currently, he is Full Professor at Universidad Católica del Maule and coordinates an interuniversity team of researchers in Beliefs, Motivation and Learning.
His research focuses on the socio-cognitive processes associated with learning, especially motivational processes. His research has been carried out with the support of multiple external competitive funds. Among them, 4 Regular Fondecyt projects as a Responsible Researcher, four others as co-investigator, a Book and Reading Research Fund, and the collaboration in several other projects stand out. On the other hand, he is a Sponsoring Researcher of a Fondecyt Postdoctorate about future researchers’ academic integrity and ethical training.
His interests in the field of motivation include representations of motivation, motivational trajectories of future teachers during their training, motivational variables in the search for academic help at university, reading motivation in children and adults, and specific motivational processes in educational contexts. Currently, her main project seeks to identify the effect of university teaching practices on the motivational orientation for learning in higher education students.
